Ayup! Here’s how to quickly and easily export print-ready files with Canva. This is a process that’s usually required before sending artwork to a commercial printer. Most of our clients here at Leaflet Lion use Canva. If you’re using different software, we’ll gladly talk you through the process.

Setting up and exporting your print-ready file in Canva
Top tip: Before you get started with any of the below, check your document size. Most flyer templates in Canva seem to be A4. Although we can scale it down for you, this affects your bleed settings.
Most of the flyers we print are A5. If this is what you’re going with, set your document size to 148mm x 210mm.
- With your document open in Canva, head to File, Settings, then Show Print Bleed. When this is enabled, you’ll see an additional space and border around the edge of your flyer design.
- Any background elements or images that reach the edge of your artwork need to extend out to the bleed line. Keep all of your text where it is, but make sure it’s not too close to the edge.
- When you’ve completed your design, head to Share, then Download. Select PDF print from the dropdown menu and tick the crop marks and bleed box, as well as the flatten PDF box.
- If you have a premium account, change the colour profile from RGB to CMYK. Don’t worry if you’re using the free version; we’ll convert it this end for you.
- Email over your PDF file and we’ll conduct the relevant checks. If any further adjustments are needed, we’ll let you know.

Sorted! If you’re struggling with any of your settings, your printer should usually be able to assist. Exporting print-ready files with Canva takes a little getting used to. Once you’ve gone through the process a couple of times, though, it’s super-easy.
