Ayup! Leaflet distribution remains a healthy source of enquiries for many businesses. That said, the right infrastructure needs to be in place before planning your campaign. This checklist covers all of the basic essentials.

Once your business ticks off everything on the list, it’ll benefit your entire marketing strategy. Consistency and quality across your brand appearance and messaging.

Before You Even Consider a Leaflet Distribution Campaign…

Over the last twelve years, we’ve seen these missing elements most often. Because they’re the foundation you’ll build your business on, it’s important to start here.

Your logo should always be supplied with a vector version. This means it’s infinitely scalable, and we can swap the colours around when needed. For example, if you needed a light version to go on top of a dark background.

Both of these needs are particularly crucial when it comes to designing for print. A tiny, pixelated JPG or PNG file won’t look clean and professional on your flyer.

2. Brand Guides (Colours & Fonts)

Next up: what fonts and colours are you using across your branding and marketing? It’s amazing how many businesses try to operate without this in place.

Along with your logo, this should be one of the first things you plan out as you start a business. Your colours and fonts will then be consistent across your website, digital marketing and, of course, anything you print. Super important!

3. Online Presence

Before anything is designed, printed or delivered, make sure your online presence is visible. Successful marketing is almost entirely built on trust. If a recipient of your leaflet hasn’t heard of you, it’s highly likely they’ll Google you.

If they rock up to crickets, that trust is instantly broken. As a minimum, a website and a social media account or two will always help. Even more so if you can demonstrate that a) you know what you’re talking about and b) you’re a genuine business.

4. Social Proof

Beyond your website and social media accounts, folks will look for your reviews. What are other people saying about your product or service? If there’s no social proof, it can look like nobody uses your business.

This is a bit of a tricky one, as you need jobs to get reviews, and you need reviews to get jobs. From day one, make a conscious effort to obtain some sort of review or testimonial from your customers. Depending on your business sector, this might be on Facebook, Google, TripAdvisor or Trustpilot.

Including your star rating and/or testimonials is an essential addition to your flyer or leaflet distribution campaign.

5. A Clear Goal

Lastly, set a very clear goal of what you’re trying to accomplish with your print and distribution marketing.

  • What are you trying to achieve?
  • What action do you want the recipient to take?
  • Why should they trust you?
  • What makes you any better than your competitors?

These four simple questions will help shape the design, language and wording of your campaign.

With your logo, brand guides, online presence, social proof, and goal in place, you’re good to go. Now it’s time to plan your leaflet distribution campaign.
